The secret to being a successful entrepreneur
Updated: Sep 20, 2019
There are few things in life as challenging as starting your own company. It’s a scary, lonely process that can be so daunting, you stop pursuing your dreams before you ever really get started. Believe me, I get it— I’ve been there myself and I've coached a LOT of people through this struggle. If this sounds like you, keep reading. This post will reveal the #1 MOST IMPORTANT thing you can do for yourself to ensure that you are victorious in your #entrepreneur journey.
So you're starting your own venture, or you have been on this journey for a while, and you want to know what exactly is the secret to owning a successful business?
Let me tell you right now--it’s not having a catchy business name or the best product on the market (I guarantee you, there will always be something better, and that's okay--competition makes us work harder).
It’s not having hundreds of micro-influencers on Social Media promoting your brand or the right amount of hashtags (other people have already figured out this game, so don't expect to be a master right from the start).
Your success or failure as an entrepreneur is determined long before your first sale.
So what is the secret then? What can you do to ensure that in an oversaturated market, your voice, your brand, your DREAM will make it past the valley of death (aka the first 5 years) and into a longterm, successful future?
The secret to success is all about your #MINDSET. It is the unshaken belief in yourself, your idea and your brand that cannot be altered by the sea of no's, 'you can't do this' or that awful comparison game where you defeat yourself before you ever really start.
A mindset is more than just a way of thinking, it’s “setting” your mind to deliberately think in a specific manner. It means making the conscious decision to let your internal vision dictate the reality you see and not letting external factors influence your outlook on life.
Having a #successmindset means organizing your thoughts to reinforce the underlying belief in yourself and your business, then using that belief as a framework to guide every decision and action you take moving forward. This allows you to be open-minded to new ideas, resilient to all of the challenges that come your way as you grow your business, and unwavering in ability to create new solutions for your clients.
As entrepreneurs, we know that our dreams can seem unlikely to our friends and colleagues when we are just getting started. But that doesn't mean that our dreams are unachievable or that our goals are unobtainable.
If you want to be successful, you need to be VISIONARY and speak your reality into existence, then watch it play out. See the future as something real and soon to come, not a far off idea that may or may not happen.
Take OWNERSHIP of your outcome and live today like tomorrow is already a reality. Speak your vision into existence and make your choices for your business as if there is no plan B.
When you life your life with a #successmindset, you see the future as already happening, and you have confidence to move forward despite any setbacks, criticisms or 'barriers' in your way (and they will come--you can count on it). Instead of roadblocks, you will see them as stepping stones to the next phase of your journey, and you will welcome them as you continue to grow your business.
Here are 3 steps you can take to ensure that you create, keep and enforce your success mindset every day:
Constantly repeat your goals and what you want to achieve in your business even when you don’t believe it’s possible; repeat it until it “clicks” in your subconscious and it has no other choice but to believe.
Reinforce your beliefs in what you have the power to achieve with positive words, thoughts, actions, and association. Place visuals around the office so your team will be reminded to foster their own profitability mindset.
Reframe the way you view challenges, setbacks and roadblocks that threaten to stand in the way of achieving success. View them as stepping stones and building blocks instead of hindrances.
Remember-- success is not a by-product, it is the result of planned and deliberate actions, which depend on a .#successmindset, that unshakeable belief in yourself and what you are capable of.
